‘Path of the Sun, Face of the Moon’ is a recent body of work by Heath Wae. This series looks at the duality of nature, expressing the multi-faceted way in which forms, feelings, philosophies and the human experience itself fractal into interactions of yin and yang.
The show’s title emphasises the themes of duality and balance present in the world. The ‘Path of the Sun’ suggests a forward movement, a journey towards enlightenment, while the ‘Face of the Moon’ suggests a reflective, inward-facing exploration. Together, they evoke a sense of the cyclical nature of existence, where progress and introspection are equally important.
The vivid hues and dynamic forms in the painting suggest a world that is both chaotic and orderly, where light and shadow, movement and stillness, are in a constant dance. The work challenges us to look beyond the surface of things and to explore the hidden depths of the world around us, reminding us that the human experience is one of constant exploration and discovery.
