The Dot Project is pleased to announce Blue Cheese, a solo exhibition of new works by British artist Jack Penny.

Known for his vibrant, dynamic narratives, Penny transforms familiar settings – dinners, social gatherings and the like – into reflections on the complexities of modern life.

For his new series, Penny takes a measured step away from his traditional creative approach, introducing more structure, clearer backgrounds and a touch of restraint. Yet each piece begins with only a loose concept, allowing it to evolve instinctively and revel in the excitement of unpredictability and the pure sheer joy of painting. The characters escalate this approach, becoming disruptive forces that disturb the peace of their own environments, injecting moments of chaos into otherwise composed settings.

Penny’s work embodies the paradox of humanity’s craving for order alongside an urge to break free from it, framing moments of play, harmony and conflict as reflections of both joy and underlying anxieties. Blue Cheese explores the absurdities of celebrating the humour and humanity within life’s everyday clashes, inviting viewers to savor the unconventional, much like the acquired taste of blue cheese itself—sharp, bold and unapologetically complex.

We are thrilled to collaborate with Teresa Tarmey and integrate the work into her Notting Hill headquarters, located in a converted synagogue.
