AMELIA BOWLES’ work sits between sculpture, painting and architecture. Her intention is for each work to cohabit the site or place it inhabits, three-dimensional frameworks come together to collect and harvest light. Each piece is composed of multiple elements that intentionally interact with one another, activating the spaces between as false-voids. Bowles’ works can be accessed through multiple viewpoints, activated through movement. The shapes inform the paintings surfaces, that are created to be hyper-sensitive to the activity of light and movement. Multiple surfaces interact with each other to perform in various ways, inviting viewers to experience sense-mapping, an immersive experience of navigating and perceiving the space.
