The Dot Project is pleased to present Devotions – a new series of work by Heath Wae, featuring watercolours on paper alongside his signature painting practice.
The paintings act as devotions to the unseen, their translucent layers inviting us to glimpse the subtle interplay between the material and the spiritual, where guardians and protectors reside in the shadowy folds of deep time.
The watercolours included in the collection drift like the shifting tides of the psyche, dissolving boundaries between the physical and the astral realms. The medium itself becomes a metaphor for the fluidity of consciousness — an echo of Jung’s exploration of the unconscious, where colours blend and flow, mirroring the hidden currents of our inner worlds.
Each stroke of pigment is like a ripple through the astral plane, a journey into realms beyond the ordinary, where the soul wanders and communes with archetypal forces. Just as watercolours cannot be fully controlled, so too is the psyche a landscape of constant movement and transformation, ebbing and flowing in response to both seen and unseen forces. The soft diffusion of colours evokes the liminality of dreams, where the veil between this world and the next grows thin, and we encounter those timeless beings who guard and guide us through the vast expanses of both mind and cosmos.
The series speaks to the urgent need for stillness, for pausing long enough to feel the guardians that rise from the earth itself. These are not merely mythic figures but elemental forces—deities of soil, wind, and shadow—protecting us from what we have yet to understand. The works become offerings to the unseen, portals to a realm where time collapses, and the earth’s own sentient voice invites us into a deeper story, one of protection, reciprocity, and reverence.
We are thrilled to collaborate with Teresa Tarmey and integrate the work into her Notting Hill headquarters, located in a converted synagogue :
