Artist-in-Residence Programme | Summer–Autumn 2025
This summer, Australian interdisciplinary artists: Heath Wae and Tais Rose Wae will undertake an immersive residency at the 18th-century Grade I listed Estate – Kelvedon Hall (Essex) – an architectural gem layered with political, cultural and design history. Living and working on-site, the artists will create a new body of work in response to the estate’s rich history, natural surroundings, and architectural presence.
Their practices, each grounded in ritual, ancestry and material sensitivity, will intersect in a collaboration that explores impermanence, memory, and the spiritual dimensions of place.
Heath Wae, known for his elemental painting practice rooted in foraged pigments and raw earth materials will enter into quiet dialogue with Tais Rose Wae, whose delicate weavings evoke ancestral memory and spiritual connection. Together, the duo will explore themes of impermanence, inheritance, and the porous boundaries between body, land and time.
The residency will culminate in a duo exhibition (22nd Sep – 8th Oct) and will feature newly created works made in situ – from earth-hued paintings to suspended textile forms – the exhibition will reflect and reimagine the estate’s layered cultural and physical terrain.
